“My objective is for Lo Abarca to create a similar impact in Chile to what the town of Pomaire has done with clay art, even though that may take years because it is a cultural issue.That is why I believe that the seed planted by children will flourish and bear fruit later”, says Patricia.

Aside from contributing an artistic and cultural meaning through mosaic work, another objective is to increase local women’s income.The town’s economy is based on the production of lettuce and strawberries during the summer months.In the wintertime, a significant amount of this income disappears.
Women and children have been trained in mosaic techniques, and several murals have been created by their community work.The project has peaked the interest of many women that seek to complement their households’ income during the winter months.

During its second phase, the project will focus on teaching the community to create products that are easily sold, such as planters, plates mirrors, etc…
